Advisory opinion request regarding whether St. Mary Parish Water & Sewer Commission 2 may continue to purchase electrical parts from Lafayette Electric after the appointment of a new commissioner who works at Lafayette Electric.
Facts:
St. Mary Parish Water & Sewer Commission 2 (Commission) has purchased electrical parts from Lafayette Electric infrequently in the past to maintain its sewer stations. A new commissioner has been appointed to the Commission that works at Lafayette Electric. He does not own the company, nor does he work on commission.
Law:
Section 1111C(2)(d) of the Code prohibits a public servant from receiving compensation from anyone who has a business relationship with the public servant's agency.

Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion.
