The Jackson Parish School Board contracts with Alpha-Tech Computers to provide maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the technology program for the school board. The contract is for a period of two years at $65,000 for one year. Alpha-Tech Computers does not make decisions for the school board and does not have the power to purchase or make repairs in the name of the school board. Alpha-Tech Computers is not involved in planning for the technology needs of the school and does not provide the school board specs or advice on purchasing equipment.

Section 1113A(1)(a) of the Code prohibits public servants, their immediate family members, or legal entities in which they have a controlling interest, from entering into any contract, subcontract, or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
