Provost Lisa Abney has asked whether the Dean Clawson may contract with Dr. Todd Thoma the Coroner of Caddo Parish to host a series of workshops while his sister Dr. Teresa Kevil is member of the faculty under the BSN Program which is Directed by Ms. Linda Coppel.
Dean Clawson would like to hire Dr. Thoma to give a series of Saturday workshops in Nurg 5260, Clinical Skills I and Nurg 5270, Clinical Skills II. All Nurse Practitioner Concentration students are required to attend these workshops which are affiliated with these classes. Between the two courses the content areas he would cover include: basic suturing; advanced suturing; mechanism of injury in motor vehicle collisions; pain management in the emergency department; sexual assault evidence collection and the role of the coroner; management of acute coronary syndrome; advanced x-ray interpretation; fluid resuscitation; and cervical spine evaluation.
Dean Clawson would be in charge of issuing the contact and supervising the workshops. Dr. Kevil, Dr. Clawson and Ms. Lanus are the instructors for Nurg 5260 and 5270. Dr. Kevil would not supervise the workshops, but would likely be in attendance.
