Ms. Reed is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed addiction counselor employed as a Social Worker 5 with the State of Louisiana, Ruston Behavioral Health Clinic. Ruston Behavioral Health provides addictive disorder and mental health services. She provides clinical services which are supervisory in nature. She has asked whether there would be any ethics violations if she were to become a SAP and provide assessment and referral to persons who are referred by their employer to a community non-profit clinic. The SAP referral process includes assessment for alcohol and drug abuse problems as well as subsequent treatment referral. The community based non-profit has no referral activity to the Ruston Behavioral Health Clinic in which Ms. Reed is currently employed.
