Mack Dellafosse is a member of the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Mr. Dellafosse's son is part of a youth sport team of which Mr. Dellafosse is one of the coaches. The sport's team is not funded or sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Mr. Dellafosse would like to participate in the team's fundraising activities. Some of the contributors may by persons or entities that have or are seeking a contractual, financial, or business relationship with the school board.

La. R.S. 42:1115A(1) prohibits a public servant from soliciting or accepting, directly or indirectly, any thing of economic value as a gift or gratuity from any person or from any officer, director, agent, or employee of such person, if such public servant knows or reasonably should know that such person has or is seeking to have a contractual, business or financial relationship with the public servant's agency.
