Belle Chasse Academy, Inc. operates Belle Chasse Academy, a type 2 charter school at the New Orleans Naval Air Station-Joint Reserve Base. Belle Chasse Academy, Inc. is a non-profit Louisiana corporation whose affairs are managed by a board of directors comprised of eleven members. La. R.S. 17:3991A(1)(b) prohibits board members of Belle Chasse Academy, Inc. from receiving any compensation for their services, except reimbursements for actual expenses. The Restated Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws of Belle Chasse Academy, Inc. require board members to nominate and elect education and community members to fill vacancies on the board. The board is considering nominating and electing Cindy Hoyle to serve as a member of the board of directors. One of the current members, James Hoyle, is Cindy Hoyle's husband.

R.S. 42:1113B prohibits appointed members of any board or commission and members of his immediate family from bidding on or entering into or being in any way interested in any contract, subcontract, or other transaction which is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such appointed member.
