RE:
Advisory opinion request as to whether Jefferson Parish employees may purchase sporting event tickets at a discounted rate.
Facts:
A professional sporting team has approached Jefferson Parish about offering a discount ticket night in which Jefferson Parish employees could purchase tickets at a discounted rate. Many public and private entities are offered the same opportunity to have a discount ticket night.
Law:
Section 1111A(1) of the Code prohibits a public servant from receiving any thing of economic value, other than compensation and benefits from the governmental entity to which he is duly entitled, for the performance of the duties and responsibilities of his office and position.
Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion.
