RE:
Request that the Board waive the $250 late fee assessed against James Siegel for his failure to timely file his November 2013 lobbyist expenditure report.
Facts:
Mr. Siegel states that he is the sole employee of his company. He was unable to file his report due to illness. Four days after his surgery was able to file his report which was five days late. Mr. Siegel has submitted supporting medical documentation that indicates that he prepped for the procedure on 11/25/13 and the surgery was on 11/26/13.

Law:
24:55 A. Each lobbyist registered under the provisions of this Part shall file with the board, in the manner provided in this Section, a report of all expenditures incurred for the purpose of lobbying. B. A report shall be filed monthly. The report for each month shall be filed by the twenty-fifth day of the following month.

24:58D(1) Any person required to register and who fails to timely register and any person who fails to timely file any report required by this Part shall be assessed, pursuant to R.S. 42:1157, a late fee of fifty dollars per day.

Recommendations:
Waive the fine.
