Cheryl Milburn was appointed to the position of Registrar of Voters for St. Landry Parish on January 21, 2014. This made Ms. Milburn the agency head for St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters. Her sister, Charlene Chenier, has worked for the Registrar of Voters Office for approximately thirteen years. Ms. Milburn would like to provide the same opportunity for advancement for Ms. Chenier as is offered to the rest of the staff.

1119 A) No member of the immediate family of an agency head shall be employed in his agency.
C(2) The provisions of this Section shall not prohibit the continued employment of any public employee or shall it be construed to hinder, alter, or in any way affect normal promotional advancements for such public employee where a member of public employees' immediate family becomes the agency head of such public employee's agency, provided that such public employee has been employed in the agency for a period of at least one year prior to the member of the public employee's immediate family becoming the agency head.
