Advisory opinion request by Layton Ricks, Livingston Parish President, regarding the use of public funds for meals, mileage and meetings for employees and councilmen.
Facts:
The Livingston Parish Council meets twice a month. The meetings are two weeks apart. The meetings begin at 6 p.m. Council employees work four 10-hour days each week.
Law:
1111A(1) of the Code of Governmental Ethics states that no public servant shall receive anything of economic value, other than compensation and benefits from the governmental entity to which he is duly entitled, for the performance of the duties and responsibilities of his office or position.
Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion
