Ryan Kauffman is the son of Captain Ron Kauffman who is the Chief Administrator for the Port Allen Police Department and the head of the Criminal Patrol Division. The Chief of Police is considering hiring Ryan Kauffman to work as a police officer.

La. R.S. 42:1119A of the Code prohibits an immediate family member of an agency head from being employed by his agency.
La. R.S. 42:1102(3) of the Code defines "agency head" as the chief executive or administrative officer of an agency.
