In connection with her request that the Board waive the late fee assessed for the late filing of the report, Jaylynn Bergeron Turner states that her financial report preparer is her uncle, William T. Bergeron. On January 9, 2014, after kidney failure and 8 months of in-clinic 3 times per week hemodialysis treatment, Mr. Bergeron was admitted to the hospital to receive a kidney transplant at Ochsner Transplant institute in New Orleans. She states that kidney transplant surgery requires multiple weekly trips to Ochsner for labs, clinic and doctor visits before and after surgery. She says that the critical life saving surgery was of great primary concern of her entire family. She personally assisted the caregivers in all the post transplant needs for several weeks subsequent to the surgery. Ms. Turner submitted medical documentation showing that Mr. Bergeron had kidney transplant surgery in January, 2014.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
