RE:
Advisory opinion request regarding whether Brannon Decou and Art LeBreton former commissioners of the Lafayette Parish Communication District (LPCD) may be employed by the commission.
Facts:
The director position is a paid position. Art LeBreton is the appointed or designated member of the LPCD who would like to seek the director position when it becomes available in March of 2015. Brannon Decou is a commissioner of the LPCD who would like to seek the director position as well.
Law:
Section 1121A(2) prohibits a former member of a board or commission, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service on such board or commission, to contract with, be employed in any capacity by, or be appointed to any position by that board of commission.
Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion.
