RE:
Waiver request submitted by John Morris, III, a member of the Iberville Parish School Board, regarding a $1,500 late fee assessed for filing his 2013-2014 School Board Disclosure Statement 139 days late.
Facts:
John Morris was elected to the school board on March 11, 2013 and took office that same month. Mr. Morris states that he conferred with school board staff and it was incorrectly assumed he was not required to file the disclosure since the staff thought it applied to only full-time employees. After attending the Louisiana School Board Association 2014 Annual Conference where he attended Ethics Training, he learned that he was required to file the disclosure even if the immediate family member is only a substitute. Mr. Morris states that had he known this, the form would have been timely filed.
