Pursuant to La. R.S. 42:1157, Guy Cormier, submitted a waiver request, however the waiver request received on July 21, 2010 is untimely. In connection with his request for a waiver of the $1,500 fee assessed for the late filing of his 2009 Annual campaign finance report, Guy Cormier states that he was unaware that his report had to be filed electronically. When he received notice in May that he was required to electronically file his report, he immediately called the Campaign Finance division to obtain the LEADERS software and he electronically filed his report on May 17, 2010. Mr. Cormier did not receive a Notice of Delinquency since the staff does not know if a candidate is required to file an Annual report and therefore is not aware if a report is delinquent.
The Annual report was due on February 17, 2010 and was filed on May 17, 2010. The candidate has two other late filings; a 2006 Annual due February 15, 2007 was filed 4 days late and a 2006 Supplemental campaign finance disclosure report in connection with the September 15, 2004 election also due February 15, 2007 was filed 5 days late. The late fees assessed for the reports have been paid.
