Advisory opinion request concerning whether Vida Watson may be employed by the Livingston Parish School System while a member of her immediate family serves on the school board.
Facts:
Vida Watson has previously worked as a paraprofessional for seven years. Her last position, which ended in 2013, was with Frost Elementary. Her husband, Jimmy Watson, currently serves on the Livingston Parish School Board (LPSB). John Watson is the brother of Jimmy Watson. He has served as the superintendent of Livingston Parish Public Schools since the fall of 2012.
Law:
Section 1119A states that no member of the immediate family of an agency head shall be employed by his agency.
Recommendations:
Adopt proposed draft opinion.
