Betty Blakes was elected to the Monroe City Council. A food truck ordinance allowing food truck vendors came before the council. The vote on this ordinance has been postponed. Her sister's husband, her brother-in-law, works for Central Oil company. Her brother-in-law will operate a food truck for Central Oil. The current proposed ordinance does not limit the amount of food truck vendors in the city.

Section 1112B(1) prohibits a public servant from participating in a transaction involving the governmental entity in which, to her actual knowledge, any member of her immediate family has a substantial economic interest. Section 1102(21) defines substantial economic interest as an economic interest which is of greater benefit to the public servant or other person than to a general class or group of persons.
