In September, 2014 Peggy Benoit resigned as Tourism Sales Manager of the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission and is currently working as the Director of Sales for a local hotel within Lafourche Parish. Ms. Benoit will be attending conventions on behalf of the hotel which may also be attended by the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission. She would have no direct affiliation with the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission while attending and conducting business during these conventions. However, there is one convention held each year in which the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission shares an appointment booth, known as a pod, with two other tourism related businesses in Lafourche Parish. All three pod participants pay the same registration fee to attend, but the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission is responsible for making the appointment to request the pod. The appointment request for the convention would have been made after Ms. Benoit resigned from the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission.

La. R.S. 42:1121B prohibits a former public employee, for a period of two years following the termination of his public employment, from assisting another person, for compensation, in a transaction involving the agency of the former public employee, in which the public employee participated at any time during his public employment. Additionally, Section 1121B prohibits a former public employee, for a period of two years following the termination of his public employment, from rendering the same service which he rendered during his public employment on a contractual basis to, for, or on behalf of his former agency.
