Earnest Anderson, Jr. is the elected Chief of Police for the Town of Cottonport. Chief Anderson would like to work part-time at the Avoyelles Correctional Center, a prison run by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The Attorney General has issued an opinion to Chief Anderson stating that such employment would not violate the Dual Office Holding Laws.

La. R.S. 42:1111C(1)(a) prohibits a public servant from receiving any thing of economic value for any service, the subject matter of which is devoted substantially to the responsibilities, programs, or operations of the agency of the public servant and in which the public servant has participated.
