RE:
Request that the Board waive the $660 campaign finance late fee assessed against J. Sterling Snowdy, a candidate for District Judge, 40th JDC, St. John the Baptist Parish in the November 4, 2014 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 11 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request that the Board waive the late fee assessed for the late filing of the reports, J. Sterling Snowdy stated that he assumed that he would not have to file a 30-P report because he was unopposed in the election. Mr. Snowdy also states that he had very little activity for this report mostly of which was for qualifying fees.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
Recommendations:
Suspend all but $200 based on future compliance. Payment is due in 30 days, if payment is not timely received, the full amount of the fine becomes due and owing.
