Dave Wilson, III, the Transportation Supervisor for Madison Parish School District (District), and Elmer Moore, III share the same biological mother, Georgiette Moore. However, Mr. Wilson was legally adopted at birth by Dave Wilson, Jr. and Beatrice Wilson.
In Docket No. 2012-2153, the Board rendered an opinion that the Code would not prohibit Mrs. Moore from being re-employed as either a full-time or substitute bus driver with the District, while Mr. Wilson was employed as the Transportation Supervisor.

In Docket No. 2008-482, the Board rendered an opinion that the Code would not prohibit Ethel Anderton from being employed with the Town of Grand Isle while her biological sister, Leonda Bladsacker, was a member of the Town Council, because Mrs. Anderton was legally adopted by another family as a child.

La. R.S. 42:1119A provides that no member of the immediate family of an agency head shall be employed in his agency.
La. R.S. 42:1102(13) defines "immediate family" as the term relates to a public servant to mean his children, the spouses of his children, his brothers and their spouses, his sisters and their spouses, his parents, his spouse, and the parents of his spouse.
