Advisory opinion request from James Parker the Chairman of the Board regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit Bobbie Kimbrel from serving as an appointed member of the Board while her husband, Robert Kimbrel provides services to the Fire District. Mr. Parker stated that the Board was created by the District to resolve employee disputes.
He added that Robert Kimbrel is a mechanic and repairs Fire District vehicles on an "as needed" basis. Mr. Parker stated that the Board does not have any say over how the Fire District elects to spend its funds. Mr. Kimbrel would like to continue to service the Fire District's vehicles.

La. R.S. 42:1113B prohibits an appointed member of any board or commission, a member of his immediate family or a legal entity in which he has a substantial economic interest, from bidding on or enter into or being in any way interested in a contract, subcontract, or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such appointed member.
