RE:
Request that the Board waive the following campaign finance late fees assessed against Tehmi Chassion, a candidate for School Board Member/District 4, Lafayette Parish in the November 4, 2014 election whose EDE-P report that was filed 3 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request that the Board waive the late fees assessed for the late filing of the reports, Tehmi Chassion states that his report was faxed timely, on the day that it was due from his office at Walmart, but for some reason, the Ethics Administration is saying it was received three days later. According to Mr. Chassion, the fax queue resets at the end of the night, making it virtually impossible to be re-transmitted three days later. He has requested the fax transmittal records from the Walmart Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas to show that the report was sent on the due date. He also is seeking the surveillance footage from Walmart to show him staying late, completing the report, and faxing same that evening. Mr. Chassion further provides that, as indicated by our records, he has no issues with paying any associated fines for deserved violations, and it is the principal of knowing he submitted the report timely.
