Mr. Tom Walton submitted an advisory opinion request regarding whether the Code would prohibit him from preforming compensated services for Livingston Parish Sewer District Number 1 while employed as the Director of Public Works for the City of Denham Springs. Additionally, he asked whether the Code would prohibit him from receiving compensation for serving as the Executive Secretary of the Louisiana Conference on Water Supply, Sewer and Industrial Waste.
The Louisiana Conference on Water Supply, Sewer and Industrial Waste, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization which provides training for water, waste-water and industrial waste operators though-out the state. The training is supervised by the La. Department of Health and Hospitals as required in La. R.S. 48:7321 et.seq. as a preventative health service.
Mr. Walton provided that when he attends the classes for his certification, sponsored by the Conference, he is not being compensated by the Conference.
