A compensated firefighter position recently became available within the St. Mary's Fire Protection District No. 3. The District failed to receive any applications from people that live in the District the last three times it was advertised.
Jason Brown turned in his resignation as a Board member for St. Mary's Fire Protection District No. 3 on August 4, 2014. He has lived in the District for over thirty-five years and possesses all the required certifications for the position of firefighter.
He has been a member of the Amelia Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty years and currently serves as assistant chief. He would like to apply for the position if the Board of Ethics would waive the two year post-employment prohibition set out in La. R.S. 42:1121A(2).

La. R.S. 42:1121A(2) of the Code prohibits a former member of a board or commission, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service on such board or commission, to contract with, be employed in any capacity by, or be appointed to any position by that board of commission.
