Ms. Hebert requested an advisory opinion regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit her from serving as an elected Lafayette City Parish Councilman while employed by the Canjundome Commission. Ms. Hebert provided that she intends to seek election to the District 8, Lafayette City Parish Council seat. Ms. Hebert has been employed since 2007 with the Cajundome Commission as the Convention Center Sales Manager. The Canjundome Commission was established in 1987 by the State Legislature.
Further, Ms. Hebert provided that the Cajundome and Convention Center is a multi purpose facility in Lafayette that is run by a 5 member Commission, two appointed by the University of Lafayette, one by the City Parish President, and two by the City Parish Council. Ms. Hebert stated that if elected she would recuse herself from participation in the selection of the members of the Cajundome Commission and any item related to the funding for the Cajundome.
