Request that the board waive the following campaign finance late fees assessed against George Michael "Mike" Canaday, a candidate for District Judge, 14th JDC: $600 for the 2014 Supplemental report in connection with the October 23, 1999 election that was 16 days late, and $600 for the 2014 Supplemental report in connection with the October 7, 2000 election that was filed 16 days late. |

In connection with her request that the Board waive the late fee assessed for the late filing of the report, Russell J. Stutes, Jr., treasurer for the campaign, states that his office took over the campaign shortly before the 2014 election. The individual who was previously responsible for the filing of Judge Canday's reports represented to his office that the Board of Ethics had combined all three elections into one, and only one supplemental report was due for 2014. Upon receipt of notification from the Ethics Board, he immediately filed the supplemental reports that were late.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
