Melissa Davis is the appointed Town Clerk for the Town of Rosepine. The Town of Rosepine has a population of around 1,652, and her father-in-law, Don Davis, is the only licensed contractor within the town limits.

La. R.S. 42:1113 prohibits public servants, their immediate family members, or legal entities in which they have a controlling interest, from entering into any contract, subcontract, or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
La. R.S. 42:1102(13) "Immediate family" means a public servant's children, the spouses of his children, his brothers and their spouses, his sisters and their spouses, his parents, his spouse, and the parents of his spouse.
