Request that the Board waive the $350 late fee assessed against Lobbyist Linda Townsend for the late filing of an Expenditure Report. |

Mrs. Townsend states that from July 26, 2015, through August 2, 2015 she was on a Holland America Cruise to Alaska. On July 27, 2015 and July 28, 2015, she was at sea without cellular service or Internet access. As such, she was unable to receive any electronic correspondence via email during these dates. As soon as she arrived in the port in Juneau on July 29, 2015, she regained access to her email and learned that she failed to timely file her June Expenditure report. She submitted the filing immediately on July 29, 2015 as soon as he learned of the oversight.
Mrs. Townsend states that while she has previously registered to lobby in Texas, 2015 is the first year she has registered as a lobbyist in Louisiana. Although she recognizes that Louisiana and Texas are separate jurisdictions with different rules and regulations regarding lobbying, she was confused because the process differs between the two states. She has since calendared the due dates for all the Louisiana lobbyist expenditure reports and will ensure that she timely file each report going forward.
