Northeast Louisiana Economic Alliance (NELEA) is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(6) corporation utilizing local, state, federal and private resources and programs to lift a 10 parish region from decades of poverty and unacceptable unemployment numbers. NELEA has recently submitted an application to convert to a 501(c)(3) corporation. NELEA is partially funded through Cooperative Endeavor Agreements with the State of Louisiana to provide economic development in a ten parishes and through annual membership dues by that ten parish region. NELEA submits quarterly reports regarding its activity to the State of Louisiana, but NELEA is not subject to government oversight or approval.
