The Monroe City School Board (School Board) intends to issue nontransferable event passes to School Board members and employees of the Monroe City School District (School District). The event passes would provide free admission to School Board members and their spouses, as well as all employees of the School District, to all School District programs and functions, including athletic events, programming involving fine arts and any other similar event, on school campuses to which the public is admitted.
The School Board is responsible for the supervision and administration of the School District, including extracurricular events. Furthermore, the School Board members are tasked with making important decisions concerning the policies, facilities, and operations of the School District that impact extracurricular events. Therefore, School Board members and employees of the School District must attend extracurricular events to interact with constituents, observe operations, show their support, and provide guidance for the students that they serve within the School District.

La. R.S. 42:1111A prohibits a public servant from receiving anything of economic value, other than compensation and benefits from the governmental entity to which he is duly entitled, for the performance of the duties and responsibilities of his office or position.
