Troy Sehlinger would like to accept an award of free tuition from the University of New Orleans (UNO) as a part-time graduate student. Mr. Sehlinger is employed as a Biologist in the New Orleans Marine Fisheries Area Office of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF). LDWF, along with researchers from UNO and Louisiana State University applied for and received a research grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to study oyster mortality and growth. Grant funds will flow from NFWF through LDWF to UNO. A small portion of the UNO grant funds is proposed to cover tuition for a part-time graduate student who will work on the project as part of his master's thesis under the direction of a UNO graduate advisor. The New Orleans Marine Fisheries Area Office of LDWF did not participate in the procurement of the research grant from NFWF. LDWF will have no supervision over the project that Mr. Sehlinger would work on as a part-time graduate student at UNO if he were chosen for the position. Mr. Sehlinger has not yet worked on the proposed project as a student UNO, nor has he worked as a student for UNO in the past.
