Advisory opinion request regarding whether Alfred "Fatty" Broussard and Dorsey Insurance Agency can sell insurance coverage to the Acadia Parish Government.
Facts:
Alfred "Fatty" Broussard served as an elected member of the Acadia Parish Police Jury from January 12, 2004 until January 12, 2016. Additionally, he is employed with the Dorsey Insurance Agency as an independent contractor. However, he has no control over, nor does he have an ownership interest in, the Dorsey Insurance Agency.
Law:
La. R.S. 42:1121A(1) prohibits a former elected official, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service as an elected public official serving in such agency, from assisting another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, involving that agency or rendering any service on a contractual basis to or for such agency.

La. R.S. 42:1121A(2) prohibits a former member of a board or commission, for a period of two years following the termination of her public service on such board or commission, from contracting with, being employed in any capacity by, or being appointed to any position by that board or commission.

La. R.S. 42:1121D prohibits a former public servant from sharing in any compensation received by another person for assistance which such former public servant is prohibited from rendering by this Section

Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion.
