Ethan Ashley is Director of Community Engagement for the Urban League. Through his position, he works to ensure that all children in New Orleans have access to quality public schools. He directs a literacy program at the Youth Study Center to ensure that the youth are focused on reading comprehension.
The Urban League does not receive any funding, have or plan to have any business, contractual, or other financial relationship with the School Board. The Urban League does advocate at the School Board on certain issues but does not participate in any programs that the School Board has created. The Urban League hosts events in which School Board Members and the Orleans Parish School Superintendent are invited.

La. R.S. 42:1111E(1) provides that no public servant, and no legal entity of which such public servant has a substantial economic interest, shall receive or agree to receive any thing of economic value for assisting a person in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, with the agency of such public servant.
La. R.S. 42:1111C(2)(d) prohibits a public servant or legal entity in which the public servant owns an interest in excess of twenty-five percent from receiving any thing of economic value for or in consideration of services rendered, or to be rendered, to or for any person from whom such public servant would be prohibited by La. R.S. 42:1115(A)(1) or (B) from receiving a gift.
La. R.S. 42:1112 prohibits a public servant from participating in a transaction in which the public servant, a member of his immediate family, or any person of which he is an employee has a substantial economic interest.
