RE:
Request that the Board reconsider waiving the $200, $200 and $200 campaign finance late fees previously reduced for Nakeia Newton Madere, a candidate for East Carroll Parish Assessor in the October 24, 2015 Election, whose 30-P, 10-P and 10-G campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 56, 36 and 7 days late, respectively.
Facts:
In connection with her request that the Board waive the late fee assessed for the late filing of the report, Nakeia Newton Madere states that she faxed the required reports on September 25, 2015. When she received the notices of delinquency, she thought they were sent as reminders of the reports that she had already sent. Ms. Madere states that the late fees, even though they were each reduced to $200 each, would cause a financial hardship for her and she would not be able to pay her household bills. She receives $1,939.08 per month and has two children.
