Request that the Board waive the $1,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against Edwin M. "Ed" Reeves, Jr., in his capacity as a candidate for Mayor / City of Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, in the November 8, 2016 election, for the 2015 Annual campaign finance disclosure report which was filed 32 days late. |
|
Charles R. Elkins, II, counsel and treasurer for the candidate, states while considering whether or not be a candidate for Mayor of Plaquemine, Mr. Reeves accepted a de minimis amount of contributions for a potential campaign in 2015 totaling $2,600. He did not expend any money on such campaign prior to January 2016. Failure to file the report was entirely inadvertent on the part of Mr. Reeves. When he became aware of such requirement, he immediately authorized such filing as soon as possible. With filing the report, Mr. Reeves' campaign is fully current on all required campaign finance filings. Payment of $1,000 was received on July 15, 2016.
