Advisory Opinion request regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit St. Mary Parish Recreation District Number 3 board members Diane and Daniel Irwin from participating in a vote regarding whether Central Catholic High School can use the St. Mary Parish Recreation District Number 3 softball fields.
Facts:
Mrs. Irwin stated that she and her husband have served on the St. Mary Recreation District Number 3 Board since 2007 and that her son, David Irwin, and daughter-in-law, Heather Irwin, are employed by Central Catholic High School. She provided that David Irwin teaches history and math, oversees IT, and coaches football. Heather Irwin teaches math. The principal of the high school will negotiate the contract and sign the contract with the District.
Recommendations:
Adopt draft advisory opinion.
