| Advisory opinion request by Kriss Fortunato regarding her potential employment with SMG within two years of leaving Jefferson Parish Government as a public information officer. |

Ms. Fortunato recently accepted another position. She would like to withdraw her request due to the underlying question now being moot.
Ms. Fortunato's potential position with SMG would consist of generating publicity and media interest for events and entertainment planned for the Performing Arts Center in Jefferson parish and other facilities managed by SMG.
While with the parish she worked among a staff of four people. The public information office duties included answering media requests, preparing news releases, producing programming for the local government access channel, and media response during parish emergencies, such as hurricanes. The supervisor for the public information office was the parish's Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Deputy COO). The public information office staff also served under all Chief Administrative Assistants (CAA), as well as assisting the seven members of the parish Council and their executive aides when requested.

La. R.S. 42:1121B provides that no former public employee shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public employment, assist another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction in which such former public employee participated at any time during his public employment and involving the governmental entity by which he was formerly employed, or for a period of two years following termination of his public employment, render, any service which such former public employee had rendered to the agency during the term of his public employment on a contractual basis, regardless of the parties to the contract, to, for, or on behalf of the agency with which he was formerly employed.
