RE:
Request that the Board waive the $700 campaign finance late fee assessed against Rufus Craig, a candidate for Mayor-President, Metro Council, City of Baton Rouge in the November 8, 2016 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 7 days late.
Facts:
Rufus Holt Craig states that he was under the impression that he had filed all necessary disclosures when he filed the EDE-P report. When he contacted the Board of Ethics after filing the Election Day Expenditures report, he stated that he was told that it should be the last report he was required to file. He states that he did not realize a report relating to the General Election was required as he was not in the general election. He stated that the fact that the 10 -G report covers some days of the primary election and the nomenclature of the forms generally is confusing.
