Patricia Bennett-Briggs states she had several family members and herself affected by the flood in August 2016 that caused her to misplace important papers. In addition, she states she had to relocate her 87 year old mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease to New Orleans. She states that the stress of not working and being concerned about her family and finances caused her to untimely file. Also, she states that she is just recovering from a divorce and trying to get her finances back in order to care for her daughter.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
