In connection with the late filing of his 30-P campaign finance report, Joseph Reynolds states that he was the Deputy Coroner when the Coroner died, which made him acting Coroner. Dr. Reynolds stated that he contacted staff and stated that when it came time to qualify for the election he was out of town so his Deputy Coroner did it for him. He stated that he did not receive a packet with filing information. He explained that after he got notice that the 30-P report was late he went to talk to Carol Jones, the Clerk of Court in Morehouse Parish, and she worked with some people in the State Office to take care of everything. Mr. Reynolds states that he is 79 years old and this is his first time to run for office. He agreed to call the Ethics Board in the future if he decides to run for office again.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
