RE:
Request that the Board reconsider waiving the $2,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against Anthony "Tony" Lewis, in his capacity as a candidate for District Judge / 17th Judicial DistrictCourt, Division B in the November 4, 2014 election, whose 2015 supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 227 days late.
Facts:
Anthony Lewis states that his campaign treasurer and chairman were novice volunteers and unfortunately abandoned their responsibilities to the campaign. He states that he had less than adequate information to file the report by himself. He states that he obtained copies of canceled checks, deposits, etc., from his campaign bank account, which caused the delay in submitting the report.

Law:
18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
