RE:
Request that the Board waive the $2,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against Lester M. Ezidore, a candidate for Sheriff, St. James Parish in the October 24, 2015 election, whose 10-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 547 days late.
Facts:
Lester M. Ezidore states that he was disqualified from the race due to his domicile and was not aware that the 10-P report needed to be filed. He states he called and spoke with someone to inform them of his disqualification. He states that he knows he had completed the 10-P Campaign finance disclosure report but the copy is on a laptop, which is currently broken. He states that he now understands the proper procedure and process and it will not happen again if he decides to run again.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
