RE:
Request that the Board waive the $900 campaign finance late fee assessed against Representative Barbara Norton, a candidate for State Representative, 3rd Representative District, Caddo Parish, in the October 24, 2015 election, whose 2016 supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 15 days late.
Facts:
Representative Barbara Norton stated she received a reminder letter dated January 13, 2017 informing her that her supplemental report was due February 15, 2017. However, she states that this is during the time that she had relocated her residence and her mail was still being delivered to her old address. She states that the person who was responsible for securing the mail and making sure that she received it, failed to get her mail to her until the day she was headed to Baton Rouge for a Legislative Session. Therefore, she states that she was unable to get the information needed to file the report because she was traveling. Immediately following the session, she states she retrieved all of her necessary documentation to complete and file the report.
