Aaron K. Johnson Jr., EMT- P, the EMS Director of the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District, requested an advisory opinion regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit Jackson Parish Hospital physician, Dr. Paula Parkerson, after hours, from contracting with the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District to perform Medical Director services. He provided that Dr. Parkerson would be paid a flat monthly rate. Additionally, Mr. Johnson provided that pursuant to La. R.S. 33:9058, the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service is a political subdivision of the State.
