Request that the Board waive the $600 campaign finance late fee assessed against John D. Mouton, a candidate for State Senator, 2nd Dist, West Baton Rouge Parish, in the April 29, 2017 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 10 days late. |

John D. Mouton states that this is his first election and that he first tried to file the report electronically, but he was unsuccessful. Therefore, he states he faxed the report and was informed a couple of days later that he was required to file electronically. He states he attempted to e-file again, but realized he needed to submit the Affidavit and obtain a Log-on ID and password. He states he did so and e-filed the report. He thought it was submitted, but there was an error. He states he had to resend the report and it was successful.
Mr. Mouton withdrew from the race with the Secretary of State's Office. The only expenditures made were for qualifying.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
