Newton Savoie would like to contract to provide sales tax litigation services to the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board (School Board ) through his private law firm, Savoie & Savoie. The St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney's Office serves as general counsel to the School Board. Newton Savoie is currently employed as an Assistant District Attorney for the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney's Office in the Felony Unit. In his position as Assistant District Attorney for the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney's Office, Mr. Savoie does not represent the School Board in any matters.

La. R.S. 42:1111C(1)(a) prohibits a public servant from receiving any thing of economic value for any service, the subject matter of which is devoted substantially to the responsibilities, programs, or operations of the agency of the public servant and in which the public servant has participated.
