Advisory opinion request from Darryl Gissel regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would require him as a member of the Restore Louisiana Task Force to file a personal financial disclosure statement.
Facts:
Darryl Gissel requested an advisory opinion regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would require him, as a member of the Restore Louisiana Task Force, to file a personal financial disclosure statement under La. R.S. 42:1124.2.1. Additionally, he requested a copy of the ethics code pamphlet noted on the oath of office form he signed. The Restore Louisiana Task Force is an advisory board and makes recommendations only. It does not have the power to expend, disburse or invest funds.
Law:
La. R.S. 42:1124.2.1 requires financial disclosure for each member and designee of a board or commission which has the authority to expend, disburse or invest $10,000 or more of funds in a fiscal year on or before May 15th of each year during which the person holds office and the year following termination of the holding of such office.
Recommendations:
Adopt draft advisory opinion.
