Disqualification plan regarding the employment of Tenneal Latiolais as administrative assistant to the Chief of Police of the City of Breaux Bridge while her husband, Terry Latiolais, serves as Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Breaux Bridge.
Facts:
A disqualification plan was submitted on behalf of Tenneal Latiolais as administrative assistant to the Chief of Police of the City of Breaux Bridge while her husband, Terry Latiolais, serves as Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Breaux Bridge. Under the proposed plan, C.R. "Rollie" Cantu, Chief of Police for the City of Breaux Bridge, will continue to have all supervisory duties and authority as to any matters affecting Tenneal Latiolais' employment, including but not limited to scheduling, assignments, leave, disciplinary action, performance evaluations and promotions. Terry Latiolais will be disqualified from having supervisory duties or authority over Tenneal Latiolais and will have no input into decisions regarding her retention, salary, discipline or any matters related to her employment at the Breaux Bridge Police Department.
Law:
La. R.S. 42:1112B(1) states that no public servant shall participate in a transaction involving the governmental entity in which, to his actual knowledge, any member of his immediate family has a substantial economic interest.
Recommendations:
Approve the disqualification plan.
