RE:
Untimely waiver request that the Board waive the $2,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against John Dirk Deville, a candidate for Assessor, Evangeline Parish in the October 24, 2015 election, whose 2015 Supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 258 days late.
Facts:
John Dirk Deville states that he usually tends to address matters that arise by taking the action immediately. Unfortunately in this case, he states he apparently did not read far enough into the ethics notice to recognize that he needed to request a waiver with the Board at the same time the report was filed. He states that he was unaware he was supposed to file a supplemental report. As soon as he received an ethics notice, he states he immediately filed the report. Unfortunately, that wasn't until October 11, 2016, nearly 8 months after the filing deadline for that report, resulting in the $2,000.00 fine. He states the report involved $340 left over from an old donation received that was reported in 2008 and $18.00 in bank fees for the period.
